The book of 12 stamps featuring paintings by the world’s greatest impressionist painters costs €6.96 and celebrates one of the main themes of the festival; water.
The paintings include Claude Monet’s Regatta at Argenteuil, Georges Seurat’s Line Fishermen, Louis-Eugene Boudin’s the Jetty at Deauville, Edouard Manet’s On the Beach, Paul Gauguin’s the White River and Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
The stamps are expected to be very popular throughout the summer as thousands of people attend numerous exhibitions across Normandy. Some 5.2 million have been printed to cope with the demand.
The Impressionism Festival is the biggest of its kind covering both Lower and Upper Normandy and involving all five departments and follows on from the highly successful first Normandy Impressionism festival held in 2010.
